A workshop on the Digital Education Content and Electronic Posting was held on the 9th of Jan. 2020 in Control and Systems Engineering Department Conference room by the Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relation Department for the sake of developing the faculty of the University of Technology per the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research activities. The workshop was presented by the Ministerial Committee for the project, Dr. Amer Saleem Al-Ameer, University of Information Technology, Chair, Asst. Prof. Dr. Oday A. Ahamed, University of Technology, Member, and Mr. Haitham Ali Kadhim, Ministry of Education, Member. The workshop discussed the many interactive aspects of the digital education including tools usage and the digital classrooms and platform management …etc.

The workshop was attended by the University of Technology (UoT) Scientific and Administrative vice-presidents, Head of the Departments, and a large number of faculty UoT members and the Iraqi Universities.

    A Master of Science thesis in titled

“ Design and Implementation of Zig-Zag Boost Converter based on Photoelectric Systems Applications”

    was defended successfully by the student “Karar Saad Faraj” on 28 Nov. 2019 in Dijla conference room in the Department of Electrical Engineering. The defense committee consisted from Asst. Prof. Dr. Fadhil A. Jumma, Chairman, Asst. Prof. Dr.  Inaam Ibrahim Ali, Member , Dr. Fadhil A. Hasan, Member, Dr. Jasim F. Hussein, Supervisor.

    The thesis proposed applying Zig-Zag coils on the booster dc-dc converter. Detailed mathematical and simulation analysis have been performed to verify the advantages of the proposed system, with comparisons to the conventional IBC converter.

    MATLAB/Simulink has been utilized, and the PWM control was set using Perturb & Observe (P&O) algorithm. The results showed better performance regarding to the voltage gain, reducing the ripple and voltage drop on the switches which lead to improving the efficiency.

A workshop on faculty promotions’ instructions was held on Tuesday, 7 Jan. 2020 in Dijla conference room in the Electrical Engineering Department by Prof. Dr. Faraj Mahal Mohammed. The workshop was a held as a part of the activities for the scientific and cultural EE dept. season.

The faculty promotions’ instructions has been illustrated elaborately and the required procedure needed to fulfill them. The work shop was attended by the Head of Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Montadher Sami Shaker and Deputies and the head of branches and many department and university faculty members. Finally, the presenter answered the many question asked by the audience in details.
